TY Trip to the Carlingford Adventure Centre: Each year, we organise an overnight trip for our Transition Year students in order for the Year Group to get to know one another.  This year, the session will be held at the Carlingford Adventure Centre.  The aim of the programme is to enhance the students’ confidence and to build a strong bond amongst the students, through experiencing group activities in a challenging environment.  All Transition Year Students are travelling to the adventure centre on Thursday, September 22nd.  They will return on Friday evening, September 23rd

Primary Schools' Gaelic League: Beginning this Tuesday, a number of our Transition Year students will be involved in the organisation of this year’s Primary Schools' Gaelic League.  The schools involved are: St. Francis Xavier, St. Brigid's, St. Patrick's and Scoil Thomais.  Our TY students have been involved over the past number of years in referring and umpiring the matches and working in consultation with the coaches.  Students’ involvement enables them to develop fundamental leadership, organisational and communication skills.  Following an evaluation last May of the leagues with the local Primary Schools’ Principals and GAA coaches, we have decided that the leagues will be for both boys and girls.  Traditionally we ran a league for primary schools girls and then one for boys.  We wish our students the very best in their endeavors. Students are aware that in keeping with CCC’s extra-curricular activities policy, each student must complete any class work and homework that she/he may miss.

St. John’s Ambulance Service:  On Tuesday of this week, all Transition Year students will hear about the work that the St. John’s Ambulance Service provides.  The talk takes place at 2pm in the canteen.

GAA Foundation Level Coaching Course:  Last Tuesday, twenty-four of our Transition Year students began a GAA Foundation Level Coaching Course.  The course takes place from 3.10-5.10pm and runs for three weeks namely September 13th, 15th & 29th.  Following this, there will be a series of assessments for the students to complete.  We then hope to organise a number of afterschool programmes with our local primary schools.

Coffee Morning:  Well done to Transition Year students, Aoife Lawlor and Rachel Murray (Rang Monnet) who assisted Mrs. O’Higgins with last week’s Coffee Morning in aid of the Irish Hospice movement.
