LC1 Students taught a sporting lesson!

The teachers of Castleknock Community College taught their LC1 students a sporting lesson last Friday as they trashed their younger opponents in the annual Teacher-Student soccer match held in aid of Cancer Research. Dubbed as being 'old' and 'overpaid', the teachers defied their numerous critics and produced an outstanding display of free-flowing football, a performance the Brazilian national-side would have been proud of!

The teacher's side was lead by the lightning fast Mr O'Leary in attack, while their defence was expertly marshalled throughout by the centre-back pairing of Mr Brennan and Mr Sutton. In midfield, the industrious work of Mr Breathnach and Mr C Brennan ensured that defence and attack linked up excellently. On the few occasions the teachers defence was broken, Mr Moore was on hand to produce several 'Edwin Van De Sar' like saves to keep the LC1 students attacks at bay. Leading 3-2 at the half-time interval, the teachers, who were assisted by Cillian Daly, Matthew Griffin and Micháel Gately, reinforced their overall dominance and ended up coasting to a comfortable 9-4 victory.

A sincere thank you must go to all those involved in the organising and running of the event. All of the money collected during and before the game went to the 'Cancer Research Day' fund. The daylong event, which was organised by LC1 students with the help of Mr O'Maoileoion, managed to raise a staggering 18,126-euro for this noble cause. Well done to the teachers who now hold the gloating rights, until next September at least!!

Final Score: CCC Teachers 9 - LC1 Students 4.
