| We endeavour to
include our students in the day to day life of our college.
Practical pupil participation is
at the core of our Student Leadership programmes. At present we
have two projects for senior students to
develop and refine their leadership potential.
These are The Prefect System and The Mentor Programme
The Prefect System
September 2003 saw the beginning of a Prefect System in our
college. Each year a select group of our LC2
students are, after a rigorous selection process, chosen as the
leaders of our student body. At a young age
they are marked out as somebody with leadership qualities. They
attend a session on Leadership skills and
Effective Communication. This is facilitated by professional
trainers from outside of the school. The Parents’
Association, who clearly can appreciate the benefits of such
training, pay the costs of this programme.
Prefects are a layer between the staff and students …
- they work alongside staff giving practical help with the running
of the school …things
like helping to supervise locker areas; canteen; corridors…..
- help teachers to operate a lunchtime library system
- are called on to represent the school at public events
- are a role model for younger students in our college
- attend Information Evenings for Parents
- involvement in the Green School Project
- Sports Prefects have a key role in promoting sporting activities
among our students
There are obvious implications for a future C.V. and
School Reference as the duties involve
- initiative
- dependability
- reliability
- an opportunity to participate in the formal running of the
school
These student leaders wear their Prefect badges with pride and
the Management and
staff would like to sincerely congratulate them on their
commitment. |
