  Parents Association & Plant Sale

Parents Association Article

The Parents Association has, since its inception in 1995, worked closely with the college management as a vital link between the college and the parents of students.  In this role the Parents Association has strived to assist the College to provide a comprehensive, academic curriculum based on a philosophy of inclusiveness and equality.

Through the years the Parents Association has been instrumental in providing funding to the College (by means of its annual Plant Sale) for a variety of projects. Among the areas to benefit have been the Computer Room, CCTV Security System,  Learning Support Department and the Prefect and Mentoring Programmes, we have also been fundamental in financing the maintenance and upgrading of the School Bus.

The Parents Association regularly host beneficial information evenings for parents. During the current school year we have had a Drug Awareness talk given by a member of an Garda Siochana and a talk by Helena Ahern, Director of Student Counselling and Personal Development in DCU on “Milestones of the Teenage Years”. Other worthwhile and rewarding services that the parents give to the school entail working with the Learning Support Department at exam time and offering the expertise of our parents to students in senior cycle by assisting the Guidance Department with Mock Interviews. Both these projects are invaluable to the students.

Over the years the Parents Association has examined many concerns that parents have brought to our attention such as School Uniforms, Parent Teacher Meetings, Lockers, School Bags etc.  As the health and safety of our children is paramount we continually liaise with school management on such issues as Healthy Eating and Road Safety.

The Parents Association major ongoing project is to lobby for our much needed and long awaited Sports Hall and new class rooms.

Parents Association meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month at 8.00pm, becoming involved in the Parents Association is an excellent way for you to play an active role in your child’s education and personal growth at CCC.  We invite you to join in the Parents Associations’ endeavours to make our children’s experience at CCC as enriching and rewarding as possible.
