The Parents’ Association at Castleknock Community College is a very active and vibrant association and is open to all parents and guardians.  Since its inaugural meeting in 1995, the Association works in close partnership with senior management and staff.  It is a vital and valued link between the College and the parents of the students and plays a key role in the life of the College.  The Parents’ Association is friendly, informal and productive.  During the academic year, the Association hold monthly meetings in the College which is open to all parents.  These meetings take place on the first Tuesday of each month at 8pm and gives parents a forum for discussion, opportunities to address trends in education and policy development.  Two parents also represent the parent body on the Board of Management.

The main aims of the Parents’ Association are:

  • To inform parents and guardians of developments in the College and in the wider area of education
  • To foster cooperation between parents/guardians, teachers and College Management

About the Parents’ Association

The Parents’ Association have hosted many beneficial Information Evenings addressing such topics as Self-esteem & Young People, Drug & Substance Abuse, Eating Disorders, Bullying, Parenting Courses, Cyber Bullying, Literacy & Numeracy etc.  Many parents offer their time and expertise in a voluntary capacity to assist the Physical Education Department with various sporting activities, the Guidance Department with mock interviews, the Learning & Language Department with house and mock examinations to name but a few.  The Association, with College staff organise the Past Pupils Reunion annually.  Parents launched a campaign and secured funding for an extension to consist of a new Sports facility and ten classrooms.  This support is invaluable to the College.

The CCC Parents’ Association are very well known for the fantastic Plant Sale that is an annual fundraising event on the calendar.  The Plant Sale event raises much needed funds and the proceeds each year has supported many projects that has enhanced the learning environment for our students – for example, the refurbishment of the Computer Room, upgrading our CCTV Security System, financing and maintaining the School Bus etc.
