  Grandparents Day

Grandparents’ Day 2011 – No April Fool’s Joke!

CCC will enjoy its twelfth Grandparents’ Day in School on Friday April 1, 2011 when First Years will be asked to invite their Grandparents to spend the day in school with them.

First Years have been issued with letters inviting their grandparent or other third age role-models into school for the day.  It will be another fantastic day with classes and creative workshops for the students and their grandparent.

We are privileged to have as workshop facilitators Ireland’s well-known photographer Tom Lawlor who will give classes in photography – bring your cameras! Harpists Harry Carpendale and Mary Nolan will be bringing along their harps and the poet Eileen Casey will lead workshops in creative writing; there will also be a session on Log on, Learn delivered by our trained TY students.

Members of BARA (Blanchardstown Active Retirement Association) and Friendly Calls Service will be present on the Friday as well as the winner of CCC’s 1999 Human Rights trophy Ms Kitty Parkes Ledden.

The students and staff of the college are looking forward to this intergenerational day and hope to see many First Years and their guests in attendance.

See www.grandparentsdayinschool.ie for CCC’s intergenerational class plans and stories collected over the years by students of CCC from their grandparents.
