In the spirit of a wholesome education, and honouring the
importance of grandparents in the lives of our students, we
bestow on both the gift of a day in school together ... doing
ordinary things. On Thursday March 23 we held our annual Grandparents'
Day in School. As usual, the three generations (yes teachers
included) had a lot to learn and enjoy on the day. The many
cards and letters from grandparents bare testament to this:
"it was a most memorable day and made us feel special...a
credit to the College...we were met by courteous, smiling
and helpful TY students and served with a welcoming cuppa...it
was a great gift..it meant so much to us to share with our
Grandaughter X and the other students, their experience of
learning and classwork... being invited to offer comments
and even take part in the classwork was enjoyable ... we appreciated
the enthusiasm the shudents showed in the subjects taught"
Members of Blanchardstown Active Retirement Association were
present as usual and this year we had a representative of
the National Council for Ageing and Older People who has suggested
that the CCC Grandparents' Day could be emulated nationally.
What a privilege for us to have been the first! Our special
guest of the day was Robert Carrickford (aka Stephen Brennan
of 'Glenroe') who had very positive things to say about the
College.
