Congratulations to Mr Brennan & the Under 14 gaelic football team who beat Drimnagh Castle 4-4 to 2-2. Best of luck to them against St. Declans next Thursday in Russell Park.

Commiserations to Ms Blacks U-16 girls who were narrowly defeated by Mount Temple & congrats to Mr Antoniottis U-19 girls who beat Mt.Temple in their first league games last Wednesday. ( Basketball ).

Basket-ball : Commiserations to Ms Cotter and the U-16 Boys who were defeated by Colaiste Choilm Swords last Thursday.
Commiserations to Ms Blacks U-16 and Mr Antoniottis U-19 Girls Basketball teams, both of whom lost to Holy Family Newbridge last Friday.
Good luck to Mr Antoniottis team this week against Muckross.

Gaelic Football: Congratulations to Mr Brennan and the U14 Boys on their superb victory over St. Declans in the Dublin Competition last Wednesday with an impressive score of 6-14 to 4-8. Their successful campaign continues against Benildus this Thursday. We wish them the very best!

Rugby : Best of luck to Mr Serocki & Mr Breathnach & the Senior Rugby team who take on Portmarnock at Coolmine this coming Wednesday.

 

Gaelic Football: Congratulations once again to Mr Brennan & the U-14 players on their victory last week. The campaign continues this week with  a match against Colaiste Eoin on Wednesday. Best of luck.


Rugby: Commiserations to Mr Serocki & Mr Breathnach on the defeat of the Senior Rugby team. Best of luck to the team in today’s game ( Monday ).


Basketball: Congratulations to Ms. Cotter and the U-16 Boys who beat Belvedere last week. Best of luck to the team for their next match on Friday.

Commiserations to Mr Brennan and the U-14 Boys Gaelic team on their narrow defeat to Colaiste Eoin just before the mid-term. Their excellent campaign so far may still earn them a place in the semi-finals! We wish them well. Commiserations to Mr Nolan and the U-18 Gaelic team who were beaten by Malahide C.S. before the mid-term also.

Commiserations to Mr Antoniotti & his basketball team on their defeat to Mercy Convent Coolock last week.

Commiserations to Mr Nolan & U-16 Boys Gaelic Team on their narrow defeat by St. Declans, 2-8 to 2-6, despite excellent individual performances by players such as Gary O’Hara. We wish them well as they take on Colaiste Eoin this Tuesday.

Best of luck to Mr Nolan & the U-18 Boys Gaelic Team who have two matches this week, against Maynooth in the Leinster League this Wednesday & on Friday in the Dublin Competition.

Hard Luck to Ms Black and the U-16 Girls Basketball Team on their defeat by Drimnagh last Friday.

Well done to Mr Brennan’s U-14 Gaelic Team on their draw with ScoilAodhain where each team scored 3-6 in the county A semi-final. The replay takes place this Wednesday in Russell Park at 2p.m. We wish them the very best in this encounter.      

Congratulations to Mr Brennan’s U-14 Gaelic Team who beat Scoil Aodhain, 5-6 to 2-9 in the Dublin A Semi-final Replay last Wednesday. The final against Benildus takes place this Wednesday November 25th in Thomas Davis at 3.30. Best of luck to all involved!
Hard luck to Mr Antoniotti’s Senior Basketball Girls Team who were narrowly defeated by 1 point last week & Ms Black’s Cadettes who were pipped in the final quarter of their game on Saturday in Loreto St. Stephen’s Green. Commiserations to Ms Cotter’s U-16 Boy’s Team on their recent defeat.

Congratulations to Mr Brennan and the U-14 Gaelic team on their tremendous victory last Wednesday when they defeated St. Benildus & were crowned Dublin County Champions! It was a wonderful occasion for all involved and a great example of the commitment to extra – curricular activities that is so characteristic of teaching staff in the College.
Congratulations also to Mr Antoniotti & the Senior Girls Basketball team who qualified for the Dublin Semi-final against Mercy Coolock next week.

Result of November orienteering event in Santry Demense: Congratulations all those who took part and especially those who were placed 1st , 2nd or 3rd on the day. A total of 46 students took part in freezing wet conditions and were a credit to the school. Next event takes place on Wed 9th Dec. Any parents who can help out with lifts woud be greatly appreciated.

Centipede Club: Congratulations to all 40 students who took part in the 5km Jingle Bells Fun Run in aid of Debra Ireland on Saturday in the Phoenix Park ( Ms McAuley & Ms Deering)

Cross Country Trials: These will take place in conjunction with Donore Harriers in the park adjoining the College this Thursday 10th December.

Orienteerig
A total of 76  1st, 2nd and 3rd yrs will travel to Corkagh Park in Clondalkin on Wed the 9th Dec for the next Schools Orienteering Event.

Gaelic Football
Commiserations to Mr Nolan & U-16 Boys Gaelic Team on their defeat by Col Eoin last week despite excellent individual performances by players such as Martin Brady & Andy Carroll. The team play their last game against St. Benildus on Tuesday. The best of luck to the U-18 team who play Scoil Aodhan on Wednesday and Maynooth on Friday.

 

Hard luck to Mr Nolan and the U-16 Gaelic Football team who were beaten by St. Benildus last Tuesday. Best for CCC were Eoin Connor & John O Hare.  The U-18 team had mixed fortunes last week, beating Scoil Aodhain in the Dublin Colleges in a great contest 1-9 to 0-10 on Wednesday. This victory means they progress to the Dublin Semis. On Friday current Leinster Champions Maynooth overcame a great challenge by CCC in the Leinster Colleges competition. Best performers were Martin Brady, Paul Crehan (Captain) & Ross Mullins.

Hard luck to Luke Murphy who qualified for his final with ease but was unable to compete due to sickness.

Annual Goal Run: Very well done to all who participated on Christmas morning & thus raising funds for the Third World

The Cross Country Running team are preparing for the forthcoming West Leinsters in early February.


1st Year Girls Basketball. Best of luck to Ms Clancy & our girls’ team who travel to Newbridge on Wednesday afternoon to play their first competitive match for the College.

Congratulations to Ms Clancy & her Second Year Girls’ Basketball Team on their great victory last Wednesday in Newbridge.Hard Luck to the First Year Girls on their defeat. We wish both teams success for the remainder of the campaign.

Hard luck to Mr Nolan & the U-16 Gaelic Football team who were beaten 4-05 to 3-10 by St Peters Dunboyne in the Leinster Quater Final on Friday last.

Cross Country Running

Last Thursday a team of over 30 students took part in the West Leinster Championships in the Phoenix Park. They produced the best results ever from our runners in this event. Rachel Murray, 2nd yr and Claire Brennan LC1 won their races where they were competing against a field of over 100 runners! There were also great performances by Brian O’ Malley, Laura Carolan, Sean Dunning, Sinead Commerford, Ciara Gorman, Emily Geoghegan who finished in the top 10 - 15  in their respective races. Great credit is due to John Downes and Maurice Aherne from local Club Donore Harriers who have been training the team since before Christmas and who have been so encouraging and supportive to them in their training. They now go on to represent us and West Leinster in the upcoming Leinster Championships.

On Thursday last our girls played their first league match against St. Wolstons, Celbridge and won it comfortably 5 - 1. Our thanks to parent Tony Hanlon, LC1 student Aisling Tierney and Ms Hanrahan for coaching , managing and supervising at the game.


1st yr girls Basketball

Our girls had a decisive win over Malahide Community School on Thursday last when they beat the visiting team 57 points to 6! Well done to all involved.

U-14 Gaelic Team
We wish the best of luck to Mr Brennan & his U-14 Gaelic Team who take on Good Counsel, Wexford in the Leinster Semi-Final. The match takes place in Carlow this Friday February 12th


All in all, a terrific week of sporting success for our students and staff!

Congratulations to Clare Brennan (LC1) on becoming U-17 Leinster Cross-Country Champion at last week’s event. Well done also to Siobhan Doyle (LC1) & Emily Geoghegan (Third Year) who, along with Clare, won Bronze in the team event. We wish them all well as they represent Leinster in the National Finals in Cork in early March. Well done also to the following students who took part in the competition at DCU last Wednesday: Laura Carolan, Sean Dunning, Rachel Murray & Brian O’Malley.


U-14 Girls Soccer: After their first win in the league of 5-1, we wish the girls & their coach/parent, Tony Hanlon all the best as they take on St. Peters Dunboyne this Wednesday at 12.00.

It’s been a great week for Mr Antoniotti & the 2nd Year Girls’ Basketball team who defeated Muckross Park on Monday & then followed up with another great victory over Loreto Stephen’s Green on Friday last. We wish them continued success in the future.

Basketball Success! The tremendous success of our  Girls’ teams continued last week. The 1st Year team had their third win in a row & the 2nd Years their fourth consecutive win when they both defeated Mount Temple last Friday. The 2nd Year team had already defeated Woodlands Academy at the beginning of the week while the 1st Years also scored a tremendous victory over Loreto Stephen’s Green on Thursday with a winning score of 53 to 23. Well done to Mr Antoniotti. We wish them continued success

 

Well done to our Girls’ U-17 team of Claire Brennan, Siobhan Doyle & Emily Geoghegan who represented C.C.C. & Leinster in the All-Ireland Cross-Country Championships in Cork on Saturday. The girls finished 7th overall in what was a very competitive event.


U-14 Girls’ Soccer. The girls take on Maynooth Post-Primary today Monday at 12.30 in Maynooth in the last of their group stage matches. With two wins behind them, we wish them the very best today.

Dublin Champions: Congratulations to Mr  McCluskey & the Girls’ U-16 Football Team on their tremendous victory in the Dublin Final last Friday when they comprehensively defeated Loreto Foxrock  with a final score of 12-9 to 1-9.


Orienteering.

Approx 55 students from 1st 2nd and 3rd yr will take part in the Spring Championships this Wednesday in Kilternan. They will depart at 10.20 and return at 3pm approx.
1st yr Girls Basketball Finals.
Congratulations to our Girls who beat Loreto on the Green 30 points to 12 to qualify for the Dublin "B" Final which takes place in Inchicore this Wednesday at 10.45am. We wish Fiona and the team the best of luck in the Final and in the All Ireland Play-Offs which they have qualified for. It is hoped that about 50 Basketball enthusiasts will travel to support the team.

Orienteering 2009/10  Results Round-up

A group of 7 1st  yr students travelled to Bewleys Hotel in Sandyford last Friday night to be presented with the Leinster School's Orienteering League Best Overall School Award following this year's very enjoyable season

As well as winning best overall school in the league the school also won the following Competitions;

1st place in First Yr girls [Overall Team Event] League
1st place in First Yr Boys [Overall Team Event]   League
1st place in First Yr girls pair event, Overall League-Jessica Agnoli and Hazel O'Donoghue
2nd place in 1st Yr Girls pair Event, Spring Championships, Jessica Agnoli and Hazel O'Donoghue
3rd place in 1st Yr Girls pair event, Spring Championships, Sarah Molloy and Emma Greadly

Throughout the season , over 80  1st, 2nd and 3rd Yr students were introduced to this exciting Sport and really enjoyed themselves around the different Parks in Dublin .The final event took place in The Dublin Mountains in Kilternan and was very challenging but the students thoroughly enjoyed it and are looking forward to next year already!

1st Yr Girls Basketball.

Following their narrow defeat by 1 point in The Dublin Final before Easter,our 1st Yr Girls are busy training 3 times a week in preparation for the All -Ireland Play-Offs which take place in Thurles on the 4th of May.The team will play teams from Kerry, Cork and Tipperary and we wish them all the best.

Get Going…….. Get Rowing: Congratulations to Sean McGuane, Alan Molloy, Brendan Hanway & Kevin Hanway and coach, Caroline Devitt  on their recent success in the U-15 4 Minute Relay organized by Rowing Ireland at the Municipal Rowing Club. 

Another First for CCC! 
History was made last Wednesday April 21st when CCC played its first ever Cricket fixture. The U-14 Cricket team played Colaiste Phadraig, Kilcock at North Kildare Cricket Grounds.
CCC captain, Thomas Anders won the toss & elected to field. Colaiste Phadraig were bowled out for a total of 59 Runs in 15 Overs.
Bowling:         Thomas Anders 6 Wickets for 9 Runs. 
                        Aidan Doherty 2 Wickets for 17 Runs
                        Dean Warrington 2 Wickets for 6 Runs
In reply CCC reached 62 Runs in 22 Overs.
Batting:          Michael Fahy scored 34 Runs not out.
Aidan Doherty scored 11 Runs.
Result: CCC won by 7 Wickets.
Congratulations to Mr Cody & all involved. Best wishes for next competitive match against King’s Hospital this coming week.

Commiserations to our Junior Girls’ team who, despite a spirited performance, lost out in the All-Ireland Play-Off!

Cricket News. CCC U-14 v. Gonzaga College at Phoenix Club Wednesday 12th May 2010
Captain Thomas Anders won the toss & elected to field. Gonzaga reached a total of 110 all out off 24 Overs. In reply CCC reached 71 Runs off their allotted 25 Overs. Result, a win for Gonzaga by 39 Runs.Congrats to Michael Fahy who took 4 Wickets & scored 15 Runs, Thomas Anders who took 1 Wicket and scored 23 Runs. Well done to CCC for a very spirited performance. 

Cricket: Our debut season ended with a disappointing & comprehensive defeat to a very good St. Mary’s U-14 side at Phoenix Club on Wednesday last. St. Mary’s deservedly won by 10 wickets. Many thanks to all those who have supported our Cricket efforts, especially Mr Cronin, Mr Brogan, Mr Kelly & Mr Cody .
