- On Saturday last (February 7th) the College played host to the Irish Trials for the Cambridge Union International Senior Debating Competition. Over 40 Teams from all over Ireland competed including two senior teams from CCC. The representatives from Cambridge University who flew in to adjudicate and oversee the event were hugely impressed by the facilities at the College. Well done in particular to Ms McGrath, David Hopkins, Teresa Hawkes (parent) and our students who organised the smooth running of the day.
- Five junior teams from CCC took part in the Irish Trials for the International Young Debaters Competition also to be held in Cambridge later this year and while, unlike last year, none of the teams qualified on the day, Ciara Gorman (Rang Friel) and Claire Carroll (Rang Mochta) finished 7th out of 40 teams and only missed out on a place in Cambridge by three speaker points.
